Spearfishing Cancun is awesome; this week we went out spearfishing with some youngsters in Cancun and it inspired us to write more about Cancun Spearfishing Charters. Any fish? Ooooh yes!
When we announce a new location to depart from, there have been months of preparations. Same in Cancun. Many months we went to Cancun in our spare time to discover and explore different Cancun spearfishing spots. We want to be well prepared when you step into our boat.
Spearfishing Cancun for sure is different than in our other Mexican locations. There are more protected areas than for example in Playa del Carmen, though more untouched reefs as well; numerous shipwrecks to choose from and more running fish, anything can happen.
So earlier this week Diego went out with a very motivated young man that had the adventure of his lifetime. As a young hunter on land, this was his first time spearfishing. Guide Diego took him to a reef in Cancun with a fair chance of Barracuda and Triggerfish. With result: see the picture. Great teamwork. Great clear blue ocean. A new spearfishing star arrises. How wonderful it is to see such enthusiasm for underwater hunting at such an age. When you have never spearfished before, come to Cancun! Any fish? YOU BET!

Then in the same week we went out a bit further in the blue with 2 experienced spearos from Brazil. It is the start of Springbreak 2015 and we strongly advised them not to visit Coco Bongo (http://www.cocobongo.com.mx) the night before the trip; better the day after the trip, jeje. Challenging circumstances. Deep waters. No running fish around the shipwrecks, no current at all. So much seaweed these days that it is tough to find Mahi Mahi. We did find a nice group of Cobia instead. Both guests went home with fresh Cobia shot by themselves. And they shared some with us. Mutes gracias for that! So when you are an experienced spearo and are wondering about any fish in Cancun? Oooh, yes there is.

Worth mentioning is that we are able to combine a spearfishing charter in Cancun with freediving around baitballs/sailfish. Check out https://youtu.be/CeVeQ8cS5wA
