It was a day like any other, except it wasn’t…Tommy and Yvonne two excellent high level triathletes were joining me that afternoon which so far didn’t give us any big catch…However that was about to change. It was our very last dive and last chance (to get some food???), visibility wasn’t the best one but I kept focusing on trying to find the catch of the day without loosing hope…suddenly and out of nowhere I visualize a fat and beautiful Black Grouper! try to control my excitement, take a deep breath and immediately dive down….kicking a few feet and then just letting myself go very slowly….Señor Grouper looks very curious, I can see it’s watching me with one eye and keeps moving forward very slowly. After falling down 50 ft I feel I’m close enough for a clean shot, it looks like the grouper is about to go away feeling threatened but I won’t give it a chance so I pull the trigger and bammm perfect shot straight into the head!! “That´s what I call spearfishing estilo Rodrigo”. It just stayed completely paralyzed and couldn’t fight at all which allowed me to get back up to the surface and catch my breath. YEAHH! GREAT CATCH!! Amazing grouper about 9 kilos so excited!!! As well said my friend Tommy; lesson learned today: keep on trying and never give up!
Saludos de Rodrigo.
