HOT news! YEAHHHHH. Leo became the official representative of AMPS (Asociacion Mexicana de Pesca Submarina, A.C.) for the state of Quintana Roo (Cancun, Cozumel and Playa del Carmen are in Quintana Roo). This is an important step as Leo now is not just “in the water” enjoying spearing fish but also “at the table” to explain and defend the activity of spearfishing in this part of Mexico.
Leo and the other guides of Spearfishingtoday.com are members of the AMPS and work according to the AMPS regulations.
Leo: “The AMPS is not just a club of spearos to get together and organize a spearfishing tournament. It informs people and the government about the great sport of underwater fishing. As an association representing many spearfishermen and women in Mexico, we now have a voice when we talk to different parts of the government about regulations or defending our rights. I am very excited to represent the AMPS in Quintana Roo. My personal mission is to spread the word that spearfishing is a sport with less impact to the eco system than other ways of fishing.”
