This Sunday, the 5th Annual Lionfish Tournament will be organized in Cozumel, in this fight against the reproduction of this alien species on Cozumel reefs. There are two categories: Amateur and Professional. The SpearfishingToday Team will join this tournament. It will begin at 8 am and finish with the weighing of the harvested Lionfish at 12 noon. If you happen to be in the area, stop by Punta Langosta Pier. During the weigh-in different dishes prepared with Lionfish will be available to sample, and there will be various children’s activities including coloring fish pictures. The event organizers aim to further promote the capture of Lionfish because it has no natural predators in the Caribbean and threatens to wipe out several species of marine life from the reefs of Cozumel. Anibal and Diego… let´s get them!!!
