After “some rainy” days finally some sun to warm up. And to go for Spanish Mackerel… The rain made the water less clear and Spanish love that. Hmm… already thinking of fresh ceviche… Here in Mexico it is said the best fish for ceviche is Spanish Mackerel. Who knows.. with all respect… I enjoy it all as long as it is fresh fish from ourselves, hihi. We drove to a spot 15 minutes away from shore. Not too much current and full of Barracuda, Triggerfish and Jacks. But didn’t we go for Spanish? Right. So I went down, the curious Barracudas came straight to me. I calm down at about 30ft and simply kept on hanging there… About a 100 Horse-eye Jacks approach me. Verrrrrrrrrrrrrrrry tempting to shoot, but underneath me 2 Spanish Mackerels are running…. I decided not to shoot anything else, but patiently wait for the 2 Spanish to come closer to me. I hope they decide to check me out…. And YES, they make a turn and some seconds later they swam into my direction. Both good sizes… I decide to go for the biggest one, though the smallest one is closer and more curious… waiting for the right angle… and… took the shot. Not the best shot, but hey… got the fish I came for. Later on Rodrigo shot another beautiful Spanish. And ceviche time it was…. Prevechoooooo.
