A Monday in October, the phone rang at the SpearfishingToday head office. “Hello. This is the Mud Guy. I am looking for Aquaman”. Jeje, big LIKE.
A couple of words before I tell you what that Mud Guy and us will do together…
The SpearfishingToday team loves to free dive and to spear a fish. We get upset if we are not in the water for one day. Yes, it is that bad. When we dive, we loose many calories. We are burning them sooo hard. So what do you eat to avoid running out of energy and to avoid losing weight? For all on the team it is different. Myself for example, I stick to some Granola before a trip. During a trip I can´t handle food. Not even a bar.
We had some interesting conversations with guests that are competing in Ironman races and they introduced us to gel. Gel? Well… that was new for us. I guess never watching tv has its price. Anyhow, we all tried it and none of us liked it. That gel tastes like %”&$”.
So we kept on working old style. Being hungry during a trip. And a huge meal after the trip. Then Jeff of Mud Energy Gel and I got in touch. Jeff himself is an avid waterman and an Executive Chef as well. Do you feel it coming? He saw a gap in the market and used his knowledge of carb burning sports and good taste to develop a gel that works (of course) and at the same time it is “we want more” delicious.
But it gets even better. Jeff developed a gel specifically for diving and hanging out on the ocean; A gel that contains no caffeine to eliminate adverse effects. And on top of that he put in a flavorful ginger to alleviate nausea.
The gel contains 36% sweeeeeeeet ground chocolate.
So long story short. Serious Freediving and Spearfishing deserves Serious Energy. The SpearfishingToday guides will start using Mud Energy Gel. And on a short term we will have the gels available on our boats as well at a friendly price.
So no more excuses of not getting a fish on your spear, jeje.
