A nameless spot. But very interesting. No coral, but nice fishes. Drifting with the current for about half an hour without seeing anything interesting…. Until I see something moving on the right. “Nice snapper”…. that would be great for tonight…. It swims so fast that I lost it…. But then I see a school of smaller fishes on the bottom close to a rock… I decide to check it out, I mean…. there might be a chance that this Snapper likes this spot as well hihi. Later Rodrigo told me that while I dove down he saw the Snapper close behind me and he had hoped I would have turned around. When almost at the bottom, 51ft/17mtrs, I see the Snapper on my right and swimming in a circle away from me. A long shot this would be, but I give it a try. YEAHHHHHH. Got it. But immediately it swims into a cave. As the shot was from far I was afraid the spear got out of the Snapper. So Rodrigo came down and shot it again. Right on time. My spear indeed got out. Appeared that the snapper swam several times around a rock in the cave. Hard to get out. On the surface we see the Snapper being aggressive towards other fishes and we decide to go for a kill shot. We disconnected the guns from the lines and in that way we were able to release the Snapper and the lines. It took us both 4 dives to get it done. But the reward was great. A delicious dinner and again adrenaline enough for the whole day…. Go to the video section of our website and watch all in the video Spearfishing Snapper Cozumel.
