Unless you stone shoot a fish it will definitely move a little bit after it’s shot…..but some fish move a lot!
Last week, we were on a trip in Culebra (our latest, beautiful location in Puerto Rico) and I spotted a nice Barracuda hanging out by a coral head. It was kind of hovering on one side of the coral which meant that I could come around on the other side and get a shot. So, I dove down to the bottom and went to the base of the coral and then slowly came around to the other side where the Barracuda was hanging out…lined up the shot….BANG….got it….well…not yet….
So the fish has a spear through it but the shot went through the jaw area which isn’t really a disabling blow….it just kind of slowed it down. Now the fish is not happy!
It kept swimming to the surface and jumping out of the water! Everytime I hoped it wouldn’t land on me!!!
Fortunately Mike got the secure shot with his pole spear and we were able to get the fish back on the boat…..with all our fingers and toes 🙂
