We’re in the water for more than an hour in a nice area… parts were 25 ft, parts were 80 ft. Some nice fishes, but specifically we were hunting for Snapper and Grouper. I decided to make a last dive before going back on the boat. On the way down I see some nice Grey Snappers on the bottom, but mmmm…. still not exactly what we’re looking for. They are curious and approach me. I just enjoy. Time to go back up… and just at that moment I see left of me, close to the drop off, a very nice Grouper. I change direction, not going up, but going to the left, haha. Going a bit deeper. I hold on to a rock, my watch says 71 ft. The Grouper notices me. Checking me out, but did not realize giving me the right angle at the same time; pulled the trigger. NICEEEEEEEEE. Got it. The way up was a fight. My shot was firm, but not good enough to go back to the surface easily. Grant from Australia is freediving with us and does not hesitate. He dives down and makes a nice shot that allowed me an easy exit to the surface. I scream out loud on the surface. Spearfishing never gets boring, wow what a feeling! Adrenaline rush…… siiiiiiiiiiiiiii The words “Grouper” and “awesome” pronounced by Grant will remind me forever “Gróoóóper”, “óoóóówsóóóóm”, hahaha.
