Spearfishing Cancun is awesome; this week we went out spearfishing with some youngsters in Cancun and it inspired us to write more about Cancun Spearfishing Charters. Any fish? Ooooh yes!
When we announce a new location to depart from, there have been months of preparations. Same in Cancun. Many months we went to Cancun in our spare time to discover and explore different Cancun spearfishing spots. We want to be well prepared when you step into our boat.
Spearfishing Cancun for sure is different than in our other Mexican locations. There are more protected areas than for example in Playa del Carmen, though more untouched reefs as well; numerous shipwrecks to choose from and more running fish, anything can happen.
This morning the SpearfishingToday team had breakfast together and we spoke about writing a couple of words for you about choosing the right spearfishing charter; how to select the spearfishing charter that is good for you. “Hey, you are much more expensive than other fishing charters I found in your area,” is a question I get by email once and a while. It might not look easy choosing the right spearfishing charters, but actually it is…
In spearfishing land there are professional charters, cheap spearfishing charters and so called cowboys. Professional charters are safe, operate within the law and have thorough knowledge about the local area they service. Spearfishing cowboys on the contrary say they caught big fish yesterday and they will take you to the same place, just throw you in the water and if something goes wrong, you are on your own!
Spearfishing to me is not just a sport, when you are diving 20 meters underwater with no tank, just one deep breath, you experience changes in your body like no other. This is why I love what I do, and want to share this feeling with others.
Going out on the boat to spearfish in beautiful Cancun, looking out at the calm sea, the guns aboard and and the captain calling us over, and we are ready to leave. Either taking out experienced or first time Spearos, the next four hours will be an adventure. There is always a story to tell about spearfishing, may it be a struggle with a Barracuda, the hunt for the crafty Grouper or finding that your fish and your glory, the family at home, friends from school or your work colleagues will not believe what you have just done and seen. Some Thoughts About Spearfishing was last modified: August 26th, 2014 by Leo | Founder & Guide
A lovely day in June and time to do some spearfishing in Cancun. Our first drop spearfishing Cancun was beautiful and fruitful. The captain is shouting at us to get in the water as he can see Mackerel. As I jumped in, the visibility was perfect and there was the fish coming up from the bottom. I turned and started to approach it from above, but then my luck ran out when she spotted my movements and swam away. My excitement got the best of me, this time.
Swimming over the reefs I can see some big Snapper, Jacks and Grouper under me, acting as if they are criminals being watched by the FBI, one movement and they were gone. At that moment I knew the hunt had begun and so did my guests of today.
Freediving sometimes makes you forget we’re human and not made to stay down that long. When we go out with guests, we also forget that our world is not that common for other people….
One of the highlights for our guests is seeing Spotted Eagle Rays while spearfishing. A beautiful, simply beautiful inhabitant of the ocean.
We ourselves love to swim with the Eagle Rays. They are so peaceful to swim next to. This week the reactions of our guests made us realize again that it is a true blessing to be so close to them so many times.
Viva la vida!
