To avoid misunderstandings. We do NOT spear nurse sharks.
I love them. I feel like they are the ones watching over our shoulders. Like Big Brothers of the ocean. This week when we were freediving in Cozumel again a great Nurse Shark moment. Diving in a comfortable current, coral heads and many caves.
Looking into caves causes an adrenaline rush. It is like putting your hand in a box and you have an idea what could be in it, but is always a surprise… Lobster? Eel? Lion Fish? Nurse shark. Or….?
So we found this cave, our guest dove down about 50ft, and I followed him with my camera. Our buddies stayed up on the surface to keep on eye on us. So I am making this awesome footage of him and he put both his hands up, notifying me there was nothing in the cave. He went back up and I decided to make some footage in the cave itself. Nothing there? uhhhhh. There is a beautiful nurse shark in the back, in the corner.
Back on the boat I asked him. “What did you see in the cave?”. “Nothing, there was nothing man” he replied. Then I showed him the footage of his dive. Jejejejeje… Big brother my friend, nurse shark is watching you.
Beautiful animal. Beautiful.
