Tim here, live from Puerto Rico…. I have referred to spearfishing many times as “the yoga of the sea”. Of course… this yoga is very manly and rugged too…. but also very peaceful! Jaja
So much of spearfishing involves controlled breathing which has been shown to lower stress levels and calm heart rates which is vey similar to the results of yoga. Although, when you see your lunch in front of you and you want that fish… my heart rate goes up a bit 🙂
Last week I went out on a day when the waves were very calm, almost no wind, and the sun was shining. Absolutely perfect. I saw many fish and beautiful reef structures and the whole day could not have been better. Much of the time I simply enjoyed my freediving and “yoga” and forgot about fishing for a bit…. but in the end… I have to eat 🙂
I saw some huge Cubera Snappers and Schoolmaster Snappers… and honestly… I missed a shot at one of them. I’ll say I did it on purpose to save for my friends 🙂
The day ended with with a nice Spanish Mackrel freshly cooked (and freshly speared by me 🙂 ) and an ice cold beer. I ate the fish before I remembered to take the picture!
Everyday 🙂 See you soon!
